A great year of growth in Asia!

One of ITU’s primary focuses is to keep our sport strong, and to keep growing it every day. In order to do so, and to work in different projects that will allow more triathletes, coaches and technical officials to be even better, we just signed another continental development contract, this time with the Asian Confederation.


The agreement includes plans for a talent identification camp to be held in Asia, camps for women, as well as funds to assist elite athletes and paratriathletes in travelling to races. It is really a great chance for them to show the world what they can do, and that’s really important for us.


The funds will also be used to provide training and educational opportunities to promising young athletes all around the continent, as well as the development of coaches and technical officials. We will work on a mentorship program for coaches, both for triathletes and paratri. This is really good news for our sport, but most of all, great news for the young athletes in Asia!

Un año para seguir creciendo en Asia

A development camp in India

En la ITU, y yo particularmente, estamos fuertemente comprometidos con mantener nuestro deporte fuerte, y seguir creciendo día a día, especialmente en las regiones donde el triatlón tiene aún espacio para crecer, como Asia. Por ese motivo, y para poder desarrollar proyectos que permitan a más atletas y entrenadores seguir creciendo, acabamos de firmar un contrato de ayudas al desarrollo con la Confederación Continental de Asia.


El acuerdo incluye llevar a cabo un campus de identificación de nuevos talentos, que se celebrará en Asia, y otro para mujeres, y también se destinarán fondos para ayudar a los atletas de élite y paratriatletas a que puedan viajar a las carreras. Se trata de dar al mayor número de gente posible la oportunidad de que demuestren lo buenos que son, y en eso estamos trabajando conjuntamente.

Los fondos también serán utilizados para dar cursos de formación a las jóvenes promesas deportivas del continente, así como a la formación y el desarrollo entrenadores y oficiales técnicos. Estamos trabajando en varios programas de tutorías para los atletas y paratriatletas, y en muchos otros proyectos. En definitiva, una gran noticia para nuestra familia y nuestro deporte, pero sobre todo para los jóvenes triatletas asiáticos, que ahora tendrán muchas más oportunidades.
